In the movie The Time Traveler’s Wife, there’s a memorable barbershop scene featuring two classic barber chairs inside “Tony’s Barbershop.” When the real Tony’s Barbershop on Queen St. East in Downtown Toronto closed, those exact chairs were listed for sale.
Claudio Ferreira purchased both chairs with the goal of restoring them to their original beauty. He fully dismantled each one, refinished the chrome, and rebuilt the upholstery by hand.
Today, the two refurbished chairs sit proudly inside Fade Room. You’ll even find the original photo of the chairs from the film displayed in the shop.
Next time you’re at Fade Room, take a moment to appreciate the history — you might be sitting on a piece of cinematic Toronto.
